The Conti name is now in its fourth generation and is a leading force in the construction industry. Great-grandfather, Tony N. Conti, started the original company, T.N. Conti & Sons in 1906. Being a stonemason by trade, he started building stonewalls, steps and patios. Many of these early projects are still in use and have developed a patina reflecting a European look.
Tony also developed a landscape construction and maintenance business that provided him with an avenue to display his artistic talents. He was known for creating some of the most elegant gardens throughout the Short Hills, Millburn, South Orange and Maplewood, New Jersey areas.
Once the company had become established, he started offering clients concrete curbing, paving, stone work and sanitary sewers. He developed a basement waterproofing specialty business that guaranteed a "waterproofed basement for the life of the building". Tony Conti earned an impeccable reputation in business and in his personal life. He established and created work of the highest caliber. His business philosophy of diversification in the construction business is evident in the contemporary Conti Companies. His motto, "Before you steal a bag of cement from a customer, offer him an extra bag", has continued to build valued clients.
Upon the death of Tony Conti, his son Gerald G. Conti formed Conti Contractors. Building on the knowledge gained while working for his father, Gerald expanded the scope of services the company offered to include both private and public clients. He started bidding and building small road improvement projects, cast-in-place concrete culverts, and larger and more complex sanitary and storm sewer installations. Gerald also possessed his father's creative problem solving abilities and frequently devised new construction techniques. Like his father Tony, Gerald stressed high quality work and performance for all projects undertaken.
In 1959 Natale G. Conti, son of Gerald G. Conti, formed Conti Construction and two years later incorporated the business. As a protégé of his grandfather and father, Nat started out by waterproofing basements and doing specialized stonework. Having grown up in the construction business, he was very knowledgeable and experienced in stone masonry construction, concrete paving, architectural landscaping, drainage and pipe work.
Having experienced the cyclical nature of the construction markets, and while remembering his grandfather's philosophy, Nat set out right from the start to diversify the services offered by the company. In keeping with the family tradition, he stressed the importance of maintaining quality craftsmanship, coupled with strong integrity. In order to maintain these high standards, Nat trained his employees in the "Conti Way" which meant they were never to settle for second best.
Nat's son Kyle grew up in the construction business, just like his three predecessors. He fell in love with the business at a very young age and worked hard to learn everything he could. Eventually Kyle joined the Conti Companies on a full time basis and worked in every aspect of the company from the field to management.
With the lessons learned from his past, he set forth in 2000 to develop his own company Kyle Conti Construction L.L.C. The main goal of KCC is to strive for excellence as a top-notch general contractor and business leader in civil construction, focusing on niche markets within both private and public sectors. Traditionally, it has been the standard to perform projects that were not ordinary or routine, therefore KCC will continue to gravitate toward projects that present a challenge.
Keeping in mind the goal of excellence, KCC has structured its operations to focus on the coordination and communication of the project just as importantly as the actual construction of the physical product. Along with implementing cutting edge technology, the training and development of our employees is also critical to the success of KCC.
Kyle Conti Construction L.L.C. emphasizes a strict honesty code as well as other guidelines and standards set in place by the company by which all of its team members are to embrace and impress on their daily lives. The integrity of the company and its employees is paramount in order to maintain a professional work ethic and environment.
From its inception, Kyle Conti Construction L.L.C. has received many honors, letters and awards. However, the greatest achievement is the many fine people that surround it, both internally and externally. The team is what will keep it strong and successful in the future. As Kyle Conti Construction looks toward the future, it continues to keep in touch with an ever-changing market place so that it is able to weather through the cyclical and economic climates of the construction industry.
